Walter Shumac III serves as Managing Director overseeing Public Heath and Environmental Quality, Solid Waste/Landfill/Recycling, Transportation and Mobility and Engineering/Utility Services.
Walter has worked for the City of Grand Prairie since 2014. He started as the Director of Transportation serving in multiple areas including coordinating multi-million-dollar projects with the Texas Department of Transportation, Dallas and Tarrant Counties and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). Walter is currently the Chairman of the Surface Transportation and Technical Committee at NCTCOG. Prior to joining Grand Prairie, Walter was the Director of Public Services for the City of Benbrook.
Walter is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Floodplain Manager. Walter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso and Master of Divinity degree from Southern Methodist University.
